June 30th, 2007: Tommy Lee — Hell Raiser

Nobody loves Pink Taco more than the devilish Tommy Lee. You’ve seen the tape, right?TMZ cameras caught the bad boy rocker throwing up the demon horns as he rolled out of the grand opening of Pink Taco restaurant in Century City last night with six-foot socialite Kim Stewart — 17 years his junior. ¡Ay Dios mio! Hopefully, papa Rod approves! Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash also got in on the taco munching, while pornmeister Ron Jeremy danced with long-legged beauties. [Source]Play Video

June 26th, 2007: Mötley Crüe wants its due

The Wall Street Journal’s law blog (http://blogs.wsj.com/law/) reported on Mötley Crüe’s claim against band manager Carl Stubner.Band members Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Mick Mars and, yes, Tommy Lee want more than $20m (£10.04m) for Stubner’s poor management decisions. They claim Stubner forced Lee to appear in reality TV shows Tommy Lee Goes to College and Rock Star: Supernova “for [his] pecuniary benefit and at the expense of the band’s reputation and financial position”.Apparently the band’s reputation was damaged because “on national television, Lee was portrayed as an inept student, disrupting classes, playing videogames and muttering during college examinations”.Naughty Lee! That said, it is a fair bet that “muttering during college examinations” is not the most embarrassing thing that Lee has done in the public spotlight.Firms Miller Barondess and Greenberg Traurig are the motley crew acting for Mötley Crüe. He has brazenly said as much. Stubner stated that he received significantly higher commissions on Lee’s solo projects because he did not have to share his take with the other managers.” [Source]

June 25th, 2007: Motley Crue suit says manager favored Tommy Lee’s projects

Bloomberg News The heavy-metal rock band Motley Crue sued a man it said was one of its three managers, claiming he favored solo projects by drummer Tommy Lee to the detriment of the group. Carl Stubner of Sanctuary Artist Management Inc. promoted Lee’s solo projects over those of the band because he received a higher commission from Lee’s work, Motley Crue said in a complaint filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The suit seeks at least $20 million in damages from Stubner for breach of fiduciary duty and constructive fraud. Stubner mismanaged Lee’s career by making him appear in two realty shows that Stubner produced, “Tommy Lee Goes to College,” which was a “ratings disaster,” and “Rock Star: Supernova,” which tarnished Lee’s image and the Motley Crue brand, according to the complaint. “The show diminished the public’s interest in Lee and their overall perception of his musical talents,” the band said of the Supernova show in the complaint. Stubner and Sanctuary Artist Management said in an e-mailed statement that the lawsuit was without merit or basis. Stubner and Sanctuary never managed Motley Crue, according to the statement. Motley Crue said in its complaint that Stubner was one of three people who together managed the band since late 2004. Lee wasn’t named as a defendant in the suit. The case is Motley Crue Inc. v. Carl Stubner et al, BC372846, Los Angeles County Superior Court. [Source]
