| January 24, 2008 | January 24th, 2008: Tommy Lee and DJ Aero – Electro Mayhem Tour Interview |
|
Proving that he can bang beats as well as he bang drums, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has teamed up with DJ Aero to form a DJ duo like no other. Aero spins the tunes and Tommy applies the effects while doing the visuals. Currently on the Electro Mayhem world tour, the rocking duo is bringing their filthy electro sounds to a debaucherous party at a club near you.DJ Ron Slomowicz: How did the two of you meet up? DJ Aero: We met at the beginning of the Methods of Mayhem tour. RS: Tommy, how do you go from heavy metal to heavy dance? Tommy Lee: I’ve always loved electronic music, whether it’s incorporating that within a song or a drum solo or whatever. I haven’t really gone from anything to anything – it’s always been in my blood. RS: So when you two perform, do you tag team on two sets of CD decks? DJ Aero: Basically what happens is I handle the audio portion of the mix and Tommy affects that audio with his computer, and then he also spins on DV-Js with DVDs for the visuals. RS: Where do you find your visuals? Tommy Lee: You know what, it just depends. I try to find whatever fits the audio we’re playing. We’ve got everything from disgusting filthiness to the most beautiful images you’ve ever seen in your life to underwater stuff to whatever goes with the music. I’m there to compliment and accentuate what’s going on audio-wise. |
