March 26th, 2008: All Is Well In Crue Land As Tommy, Mick, Nikki And Vince Settle Lawsuit

The infighting between Motley Crue members seems to have ended, as a lawsuit filed against drummer Tommy Lee and his manager Carl Stubner by singer Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx and guitarist Mick Mars was settled last week. The $20-million-plus U.S. suit was filed last June and accused Lee of focusing on his solo career to the detriment of the group, citing the Tommy Lee Goes To College reality television show and his involvement in Rockstar: Supernova as examples.A two-page court document will reportedly be filed by May 31 to officially dismiss the lawsuit on “the successful completion of the undisclosed terms arrived at by the warring parties,” according to the Motley Crue website. The group are working on a new studio album, which Sixx seems quite psyched about.”I fucking love this new Motley Crue album,” Sixx recently wrote on his website. “Tommy’s kickin ass, Vince sounds insane and Mars is shredding on guitars. It doesn’t feel like one song is better or worse than any other.”

March 25th, 2008: MÖTLEY CRÜE’s SIXX, MARS Settle Up With Manager CARL STUBNER

E! Online reports that MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx and guitarist Mick Mars have tentatively settled a lawsuit against Carl Stubner, the manager of the band’s drummer Tommy Lee, whom they accused of orchestrating a campaign of “self dealing” to “divert revenue” from the group. In CRÜE’s original lawsuit, which was filed on June 18, 2007 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, three of the group’s founding members (Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil and Mick Mars) through Motley Crue Inc., claimed Stubner forced Tommy Lee to “to become engaged in ‘reality’ projects that were bad career moves for Lee, harming [Sixx, Mars, Neil and Lee], the MÖTLEY CRÜE brand and Lee’s own image.” The suit called the low-rated NBC show “Tommy Lee Goes to College” a “critical disappointment and a ratings disaster,” adding it painted Lee as “incoherent, lazy and incompetent” and made him “look like a laughing stock who could not carry a drum beat.” The suit also claims Lee’s participation on “Rock Star: Supernova” “diminished the public’s interest in Lee and their overall perception of his musical talents.” Because Lee was so busy doing reality TV, the band says he was unavailable to tour with the CRÜE, thus causing the cancellation of several key concert dates. The band claims that they lost $8 million in ticket and merchandise revenue because of Lee’s scheduling conflicts. The band claims these conflicts were “both real and concocted” by Stubner to “leverage his control over Lee to his financial advantage and to MÖTLEY CRÜE and Lee’s detriment.”According to a two-page settlement agreement, a request for dismissal will be filed by May 31 based on the successful completion of the undisclosed terms arrived at by the warring parties. A hearing scheduled for Friday has been canceled. A judge had ordered Sixx and Mars to amend their complaint with more evidence of wrongdoing before the lawsuit could go further. [Source]

March 25th, 2008: Motley Crue Tentatively Settles With Ex-Manager

Motley Crue has tentatively reached a settlement with former manager Carl Stubner, according to E! Online. Sixx and Mars alleged in a lawsuit filed in June of 2007 that Stubner, acting as manager of Crue drummer Tommy Lee, orchestrated a campaign of “self dealing” to “divert revenue” from the group. The original lawsuit claimed that Stubner forced Lee to “become engaged in ‘reality’projects that were bad career moves for Lee, harming the Motley Crue brand and Lee’s own image.” The suit cited NBC-TV’s short-lived Tommy Lee Goes to College, saying it painted Lee as “incoherent, lazy and incompetent,” and CBS’s Rock Star: Supernova, which they said “diminished the public’s interest in Lee and…his musical talents.” The suit also alleged that Lee’s involvement in these projects made him unavailable for Motley Crue tour dates, costing the band millions in revenue. These conflicts were “concocted” by Stubner, according to the suit, “to leverage his control over Lee to his financial advantage and to Motley Crue and Lee’s detriment.” The proposed settlement states that a request for dismissal of the suit will be filed by May 31st based on the completion of undisclosed terms agreed on by both parties. A judge had ordered the members of Motley Crue to provide more evidence before the suit could go any further. Motley Crue is scheduled to make what’s been billed as a “colossal” announcement on April 15th in Los Angeles. Although the band’s current management has denied reports that the group will be unveiling a festival-type tour possibly known as “Cruefest,” it has been established that up to two dozen other acts will be involved in whatever is being announced. The group’s first studio album in eight years, titled The Dirt, is due out on July 8th. Meanwhile, a Blu-ray Disc version of Carnival of Sins, a concert document filmed on the Crue’s 2004/2005 reunion tour, arrives on April 29th. [Source]

March 24th, 2008: Two Cr

Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars don’t want to go away mad. Mötley Crüe’s bassist and guitarist have tentatively settled a lawsuit against a former comanager of their band who they accused of becoming so wrapped up in Tommy Lee’s career that he forgot what was good for the foursome. Sixx, Mars and the corporations Mötley Crüe Inc. and Red, White & Crüe Inc. (not including frontman Vince Neil, however), sued Carl Stubner, who still represents Lee, for more than $20 million in June, alleging breach of fiduciary duties and constructive fraud. They claimed Stubner damaged Lee’s heavy-metal rep by signing him up for Rock Star: Supernova and Tommy Lee Goes to College and then loading the drummer’s schedule with commitments that took him away from rehearsals, recording and touring. In their complaint, the plaintiffs said that their ex-manager demanded a bump in commissions, or else he would make sure Lee was unavailable for the 2006 dates on their Red, White and Crüe tour. According to a two-page settlement agreement, a request for dismissal will be filed by May 31 based on the successful completion of the undisclosed terms arrived at by the warring parties. A hearing scheduled for Friday has been canceled.
