The best-known ‘recordings’ of Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee might well be the ‘home videos’ he made with ex-wife Pamela Anderson.But the drummer has now opened his own recording studio

93X reports: Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee joined Static-X on stage on May 4, 2009 at the House of Blues in Hollywood, California to perform a cover of the Crue classic “Looks That Kill”. Watch fan-filmed video footage of the performance below (sound quality isn’t that great).Static-X’s version of “Looks That Kill” is included on the Best Buy-exclusive version of the band’s latest album, Cult of Static.As previously reported, Static-X has tapped drummer Will Hunt (Evanescence, Dark New Day, ex-Scrape, Tommy Lee) to fill in for Nick Oshiro on the group’s current tour. Hunt also appears in Static-X’s new video for the song “Stingwray”.

Tommy Lee, Mick Mars and the rest of Motley Crue will appear in the season finale of Bones on May 14th. In the episode, the band is playing at a nightclub where a murder victim is found. Mars gave us a little background on the show and the band’s guest spot: “We’re doing a weekly series called Bones, actually this lady’s name is Bones and she goes around and does like forensic things on old bones that they find and stuff and she finds out how the person died or if the person was murdered or if they died of natural causes and that kind of a thing so it was kind of cool.” Mars says this isn’t the first time Motley Crue has been asked to appear on a TV drama: “A long time ago we were asked to do CHiPs and we kind of passed on it because we thought it was a little bit not us but this is I think more us ’cause you know it’s like kind of dark and you know with the skeletons and forensic stuff and autopsy kind of weird thing and everything else and crime scene investigators and stuff that’s more, more like a Motley Crue thing.” Bones stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz.
